If You Don't Like Something, Get in the Room

If You Don't Like Something, Get in the Room

Last week I was in Erie, Pennsylvania, for the Erie Combined Task Force. It's the meeting where all five task forces sit down together with Erie's leadership, including high-level executives and some of the board.

This was my third year. It was also my last. I'm stepping off.

The travel is a real investment. Getting there is a haul, and it costs time I could spend a dozen other ways. But, it was worth every bit of it.

You get to meet some of the best agents in the country. You get to talk to the people who actually make the decisions at Erie Insurance. And you start to understand the why behind those decisions, which changes how you see the whole thing.

I was on the sales and marketing task force. We got a lot done in a short window, and I'm glad I got to influence some of those changes and be part of it.

What I admire most about Erie insurance is the legacy, the consistency, and the principles. Three years in those rooms only made me respect it more.

A lot of agents complain on social media or to a colleague, but they never make the time to get involved. I get it. It's an investment, and not everyone is in a position to make it right now.

But if you can, do it. If you don't like something, get in the room and try to change it. For yourself, and for everyone else in this industry. It benefits all of us.
